LinkedIn Enhances Company Page and Recruiter Verification

LinkedIn Expands Company Page Recruiter Verification

LinkedIn enhances verification of its company page and recruiter by introducing new services to add to credibility and trust.

LinkedIn is also becoming more aggressive in its war against impersonation, with an expansion of its company verification option by enforcing workplace verification and company page verification of both leadership and recruiter roles. These extensions have been implemented to enable users and give them trust in the site.

Broader Access to Company Page Verification

Introduced way back in August last year, with a handful of pages, the company page check-in of LinkedIn determines the legal presence of a business on the platform.

According to LinkedIn, it is not a status validation process, but it assures that a page is the real brand.

The LinkedIn company has nearly 60 million pages of companies that are connected to it, and they cannot be checked manually. Now, LinkedIn is verifying more companies, but this is restricted to businesses that subscribe to the Premium Company Page.

According to LinkedIn:

“Until now, Company Page verification was available only to a limited number of organizations and by request. That changes today. We’re increasing access to all companies with a Premium Company Page subscription unlocking access for more businesses.”

This is one of the premium account benefits, as well as to some extent, to large organizations, where the official checkmark would have a greater influence, especially in the recruitment process. Smaller brands with an average monthly Premium Business of $99 may not be able to do so.

New Recruiter Verification to Combat Scams

An even more notable addition is perhaps Recruiter Verification, which forces users who add or edit recruiter-related job descriptions (adding a Recruiter or Talent Acquisition Specialist) to check where they work.

LinkedIn explains:

“LinkedIn now requires members who add or update recruiter-related titles, such as ‘Recruiter’ or ‘Talent Acquisition Specialist’, to verify their workplace on their profile.

This change helps job-seekers identify legitimate recruiters and avoid scams, while enabling recruiters to build trust in potential candidates from the first interaction.”

The problem under discussion in this update is the large number of scamming recruiters, since only people working in large organizations are permitted to post job ads publicly.

Executive-Level Job Title Verification Introduced

LinkedIn is also checking the titles of the executives, such as the Executive Director, Managing Director, and Vice President. This is to prevent impersonation of executives and maintain the credibility and trust of top executives.

“This move is designed to guard against executive impersonation, and to ensure that those in senior roles are able to reflect their company authentically to build and maintain trust and credibility.”

A background check of all users in leadership and recruitment roles will be a big task, and therefore, implementation will most likely be time-consuming. However, such changes are major strides in the ongoing journey of LinkedIn to assure, secure, and professionalize the platform.

Bottom Line

This is alongside other verification programs already put in place by LinkedIn and is meant to secure the space of the app. The more LinkedIn can enhance verification, the more resourceful the company becomes as a trusted and helpful tool in networking and recruitment of professionals.
