X is currently offering free access to its newest Grok 4 AI to users, allowing enhanced engagement with the company’s newly developed AI Platform.

X (previously Twitter) is now making a major effort to broaden the capabilities and reach of its AI features. The company has announced that Grok 4, xAI’s latest AI model, is now free to access for everyone worldwide. This move aims to increase user interest and engagement with X’s expanding suite of AI tools.

What Is Grok 4?

Grok 4 is the latest version of xAI’s advanced AI technology, designed to handle both simple and complex queries efficiently. According to xAI, Grok 4 outperforms the top competitors in AI tests, including those from OpenAI and Meta; however, certain third-party testing contradicts this claim.

As announced by xAI:

“Grok 4 is now free for all users worldwide! Simply use Auto mode, and Grok will route complex queries to Grok 4. Prefer control? Choose “Expert” anytime to always use Grok 4. For a limited time, we are rolling out generous usage limits so you can explore Grok 4’s full potential.”

This announcement suggests that Users can use Grok 4 in two modes. First is the Auto mode, where the system can route complicated questions automatically, and the other is Expert mode, which gives greater control. 

Grok 4 is currently offering large usage limits to allow users to fully experience the capabilities of Grok 4. After the trial period, any further use will require the purchase of X Premium or Grok.

Musk’s Strategy Behind Free Access

Elon Musk, owner of X and xAI, explained that the free access is limited to a number of daily queries, and subscriptions are required for long-term usage. This program is in addition to additional free AI features, such as “Imagine,” a text-to-video generator available to all users for free (for a limited time).
