Google Search Console Still Testing Branded Queries & Social Channels Feature

Google Search Console

Google has decided to withhold both the social channels report and the branded queries filter from Google Search Console until further testing moves forward.

The company confirmed that both features remain under active testing.

Phased Release Strategy

The LinkedIn discussion featured John Mueller, who explained the reasons behind the suspension. He wrote, “Both of these are going to take a bit more time.”

He said, “We need to make sure both features provide optimal performance to all users.” He added that they are releasing features in slow, small steps, so that they can collect feedback and iterate to improve them. They require more data before releasing these features more broadly.

His comments make clear that Google is prioritizing stability and data accuracy over speed.

Not Launching Now

The exchange occurred during a Google Search Central post. Multiple users inquired about the current status of the features.

The features remain active because they are still undergoing development, according to Mueller. Google maintains its commitment to a gradual feature introduction procedure.

Site owners must prepare for ongoing testing, which will delay public access until additional time passes.
