Brave Launches Ask Brave, A Unified AI Search Interface

Brave launches Ask Brave, a unified AI search interface that combines traditional results with AI-powered answers, providing faster browsing experiences.

Brave has debuted Ask Brave, a new, unified search tool that combines AI chat responses with legacy search results to provide answers alongside videos, web pages, and product listings (and, soon, package tracking), all through a single interface on the Brave Search homepage.

Ask Brave Overview

Most notable, perhaps, is the Deep Research chat mode, which provides longer, more comprehensive answers and follow-up interactions, building upon the foundation established by Brave’s existing AI Answers feature, which delivers over 15 million answers per day.

Josep M. Pujol, Chief of Search at Brave, says:

While AI Answers give our users quick summaries, Ask Brave provides longer answers, follow-ups, and a chat mode enhanced with Deep Research, and most importantly, contextually relevant enrichments such as videos, news articles, products, businesses, shopping, and more – in the right place, at the right time. Search makes it possible, LLMs glue it together. We anticipate that Ask Brave will generate millions more daily AI-powered answers with this powerful combination of search and chat, and look forward to deploying more useful AI-powered search tools for our users.

The unique combination of experiences is designed to eliminate the pain users currently feel when toggling between traditional search engines and AI chatbots by providing their results at the same venue.

Grounded Search with High Accuracy

Utilizing ground technology with Brave’s Search API, Ask Brave achieves a 94.9% accuracy on the SimpleQA benchmark. Powered by 35 billion web pages of information, eliminating the vast majority of AI hallucinations and utterly irrelevant content.

Deep Research mode takes that a step further by digging into thousands of pages to find what is missing and produce more complete answers.

As always with Brave and its privacy-first ethos, Ask Brave is not utilizing user questions and conversations for training AI models. It encrypts all exchanges, deletes all information after 24 hours of idleness, and does not log or store IP addresses.

Accessing Ask Brave

There are a few ways for users to connect to the service:

  • Include double question marks (“?? switch queries with using Brave Search as the default engine”) with
  • Hit the search Asker button. brave. com
  • Activate chat mode by using the Ask tab on search results pages.
  • Directly set the Brave Search homepage to Ask Brave Layout

Industry Context and Growth

Brave Search now handles over 1.5 billion queries per month, making it the third-largest independent search engine globally. Globally, Brave has more than 97 million monthly active users.

Ask Brave has launched just as major competitors, including Google and Microsoft, are embedding AI more deeply into their search products through innovations such as Google AI Mode and Microsoft Bing Copilot.

Brave also now provides a Search API that delivers real-time search data directly to AI language models, solidifying its position in the rapidly evolving world of AI-powered search.

Bottom Line

Ask Brave brings us closer to unifying search and AI chat experiences with industry-leading privacy protection, positioning Brave as a prominent player in the future of AI-powered search.
