YouTube Widens Access to Title A/B Testing, Adds C-SPAN to YouTube TV
YouTube widens access to Title A/B testing and adds C-SPAN to YouTube TV, improving content optimization tools and boosting news options for viewers.
YouTube is rolling out more optimization tools for creators while also beefing up its live TV news lineup. All creators with Advanced Features can now A/B test both thumbnails and titles, and YouTube TV subscribers are getting live C‑SPAN coverage plus some seasonal extras for live gifting.
Title and thumbnail A/B tests for more creators
YouTube has announced that its Test & Compare tools for thumbnails and titles are now available to all channels that have enabled Advanced Features via ID verification.

As you can see creators can test up to three title variants on a video, using the same interface they already have for thumbnail experiments inside YouTube Studio. Thumbnail tests, first announced in 2023, show different creative options to sampled viewers over roughly two weeks and then pick a winner based on which drives the most watch time, not just clicks.
YouTube says it uses watch time because it wants to “maximize viewer engagement” and sees this as a better proxy for value than click-through rate alone, which can be distorted by clickbait. With AI image tools making it easier to generate multiple thumbnail concepts, these tests give creators a more data-driven way to lock in the best-performing combinations.
Who Gets Access And Why It Matters
Access is tied to Advanced Features, meaning creators need to have completed YouTube’s higher-tier verification (such as ID or video verification) before they can run title and thumbnail experiments.
Once enabled, Test & Compare can be baked into publishing workflows, helping validate instincts around messaging, packaging, and visual style with real audience behavior instead of guesses.
For marketers and channel managers, this effectively brings native A/B testing for two of the highest-leverage elements of YouTube performance titles and thumbnails without relying on third-party tools or manual swaps. It’s especially useful when you are trying to refine hooks, keyword positioning, or branding across series or campaigns.
C‑SPAN Joins YouTube TV’s Live News Lineup
On the distribution side, YouTube TV has added C‑SPAN’s full channel suite to its base package in the US. All three networks—C‑SPAN (House of Representatives), C‑SPAN2 (Senate), and C‑SPAN3 (public affairs programming) are now available to stream, giving subscribers direct, unfiltered access to congressional proceedings and related events.

YouTube will also sponsor C‑SPAN’s “America 250” programming, tied to the 250th anniversary of the US founding, which begins next year. The move helps close a long-noted gap in YouTube TV’s news offering and aligns with C‑SPAN’s broader strategy of reaching cord-cutters via streaming platforms like YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV.
New Seasonal Stickers For Live Gifting
Rounding out the update, YouTube is rolling out new seasonal sticker options that viewers can purchase and send to creators during vertical live streams.

As you can see, the current set includes items like an owl and a hot cocoa-themed sticker, available to all creators who have live gifting enabled on vertical live. These seasonal assets are designed to drive more interaction and monetization during the holiday period and will remain available until March 20.
Bottom Line
For creators already leaning into live commerce or live engagement formats, they provide another small but potentially meaningful way to nudge viewers toward paid support.
