TikTok Sets New Livestream Record With Tomorrowland 2025 Broadcast
TikTok has once again established its position as a major player for music streaming by surpassing its previous record during the Tomorrowland 2025 live broadcast.
The event drew more than 74 million people across both weekends, exceeding the live audience of 16 million from 2023. This impressive increase highlights the increasing role played by TikTok during Live music performances.

The TikTok community turned up in droves, enjoying more than 2.4 billion views of #Tomorrowland content during the two weeks, making Tomorrowland the biggest festival account on TikTok with over 9.2m followers, an increase of over 1.9m new followers over the two weeks.”
Livestreaming’s Expanding Role on TikTok
The Livestream’s success at Tomorrowland underscores TikTok’s wider goals in livestreaming, which is now an essential element of the platform’s plan. The success of Tomorrowland is also tied to TikTok’s overall expansion into livestream shopping, which has had enormous popularity on “Douyin” which is which is the Chinese model of TikTok.
By 2024, Douyin generated a staggering $US490 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV) which included the majority of it is derived from live streaming shopping channels. In comparison, TikTok’s generated around $US33 billion in GMV. Although livestream shopping has not yet gained the same popularity within Western markets, it is still increasing.
TikTok generated over $100 million in sales on Black Friday, which was triple the result it generated in 2023. This resulted in a major surge with livestreams especially those led by celebrities, playing a critical role in driving sales.
