Threads Introduces Auto-Added Counts on Posts
Threads now automatically add like and reply counts directly on posts in your feed, making it easier to see engagement at a glance without opening a thread.
Following last month’s testing, Threads has officially introduced an auto-inserted post counter option for threads in the app.

Enhancing Thread Navigation
As you can see in the example, this improvement is expected to ease the process of gauging the length of a sequence of posts and monitoring the reading process among the users.
Rather than manually adding 1/3 or thread emojis, Threads will now automatically display the number of posts in a thread and indicate the reader’s position within it.

As you can see in the example, this assistance is provided throughout the entire instructional process for users. The site is also designed to ensure that threaded posts are displayed cohesively, which enhances the overall user experience when reading multi-post stories or updates.
New Long-Form Features
This feature is supported by the latest update to Threads, which now features 10,000-character text attachments that enable users to add content to their updates in a blog-like format.
Such lengthy text posts may seem to push the traditional idea of threads to its limits, but the new post count feature supports actual threading as a way to maintain thematic coherence.
Dynamic Updates Reflect Edits and Additions
The number of posts is dynamically updated; when a user returns to a thread and adds or removes posts, the numbering is updated to reflect the thread’s current length.
Additionally, Threads now collapses the first two posts on user profiles with the label ‘View more’, which serves as a more potent reminder that the content is unfolding as a thread.
This encourages users to consider contexts that extend beyond individual posts.
Minor, Yet Useful Improvement
Although this is not a groundbreaking change, it can be considered a smart approach to current user behavior, making threaded content more easily accessible and understandable.
Combined with augmented text notes, Threads is polishing the way users can post more deeply rich, multi-layered updates than individual posts.
Bottom Line
This update is illustrative of the way Threads has been changing in terms of making its storytelling clearer and user-friendly as a platform.
