Snapchat Introduces Saturn Integration for Shared Calendar Visibility Among Friends
Snapchat has taken another step towards enhancing its user interface by adding Saturn, the student-planning app for shared calendar visibility among friends.
After acquiring student planning app Saturn recently, Snapchat now integrates Saturn status updates directly into user profiles, making it easier to stay connected and see what friends are doing in real-time.

As you can see in these example screens, Saturn’s core focus is to help students manage academic tasks, while also enabling calendar sharing, in-app messaging, and event participation with friends.
Saturn’s Role in Student Planning
Saturn was created to assist students keep track of their academic obligations. However, the functionality of Saturn goes far beyond as It lets users publish their calendars, join events, and talk to friends all in one location. Today, Snapchat is bringing this feature to its platform.
Snapchat’s Help Center now includes a new overview of what Saturn is, explaining Saturn’s features, functionality, and how to link it with your Snapchat account
According to Snap:
“Saturn lets you share your schedule with friends so they can see what you’re up to in real time in the Snapchat app.”
This integration was designed to give users an effortless way of managing their schedule and remain connected with their friends.
How It Works?
Users can connect the Saturn profile to Snapchat by a process that is automated using both or both the Snap or Saturn application. Once you’ve connected to Snapchat, your Saturn calendar will appear in the profile of your Snapchat profile, under the name of your profile.
From there, you’ll be in a position to control your Saturn status from Snapchat’s settings. This includes who has access to the information on your calendar.
In addition, Snapchat users will soon be able to begin conversations straight from Saturn:
“If your friend on Saturn has connected their Saturn and Snapchat accounts, tapping the yellow ‘Chat’ button in a friend’s profile in the Saturn app will open the Snapchat app. If you’re friends on Snapchat, tapping the button will open in the chat conversation with that friend. If you’re not friends on Snapchat, it will open to their Friendship Profile.”
A Step Toward Deeper Integration
Although Saturn is a stand-alone application for the moment however, the integration suggests an upcoming future in which the two platforms are more closely aligned. It is possible that Snapchat could eventually integrate Saturn’s features into their application completely.
At present both platforms will be able to coexist while Snapchat users will also invite their Snap friends to sign-up for Saturn via Snap. This integration is in line with Snapchat’s main goal that connects users specifically younger ones, and improving the quality of their social interactions.
Final Thought
This move could help Snapchat keep its position as the preferred platform to facilitate relationships and everyday interactions. Snapchat has not announced an exact release date for the Saturn feature in the app, however it’s expected to launch very soon. Keep an eye on the app for announcements.
