90% of businesses fear losing SEO visibility as AI transform search, forcing marketers to reconsider strategies to maintain their online presence.

A recent survey conducted by Ann Smarty reveals that nearly 90% of companies are worried about losing visibility in organic search due to the rapid increase of AI-generated responses that are changing the way users find information online. 

This is threatening the old base of SEO which is causing many companies to quickly adapt to changing changes in the search engine.

Businesses Investing Heavily in AI-Driven SEO

The findings of the survey indicate an active approach by businesses: 85.7% are already investing or are planning to invest in AI and large-language model (LLM) optimization, and 61.2% plan to raise their SEO budgets in order to be able to keep up with AI’s growing impact. 

Incredibly, the majority of companies prefer to keep their “SEO” label, with new terms such as “SEO for AI” (49%) as well as “GEO” (41%) are gaining momentum to define the new frontier of optimization.

Brand Visibility Over Clicks

A staggering 75.5% of respondents place importance on branding visibility in search results generated by AI even if there is there isn’t a specific link to their sites is included.

Current AI Search Challenges

Although AI search engines such as ChatGPT as well Google’s AI Overviews are rapidly growing and gaining popularity, several studies suggest that traffic generated by AI chatbots performs less well than traditional search-related referrals.
