Meta Tests Standalone AI Video App “Vibes” in Brazil and Mexico
New App Separates AI Video Feed from Meta AI Platform
Meta Platforms has started testing a standalone version of its AI-powered video feed, “Vibes.” This is a part of its growing push toward generative artificial intelligence.
The early version of the dedicated Vibes app is now available in Brazil and Mexico. This app was previously embedded within the Meta AI app.
The Vibes feed has been separated into its own full-screen video platform. The main Meta AI app continues to focus on broader AI functions, including integration with Meta’s AI glasses.
A TikTok-Style Experience – Powered Entirely by AI
The standalone Vibes app is able to deliver a vertical, swipe-based video experience similar to TikTok. The crucial difference is that every clip shown in the feed is generated using AI tools.
Meta says that the move follows strong early traction within the Meta AI app. According to the company, users are increasingly using the format to create and discover, then share AI-generated videos with friends.
In a statement shared via Platformer, Meta says that the standalone app gives users a “dedicated home” for AI video content, creating a more focused and immersive experience.
Feature Expansion Since September Launch
Vibes was for the first time, introduced in September 2025 inside the Meta AI app. Since then, Meta has expanded its editing and customization tools to improve user control over AI-generated clips.
During its fourth-quarter earnings call, the company then reported that content generated via the Meta AI app tripled year-over-year in Q4 2025.
But this growth should be viewed in context. The Vibes feed was then only rolled out widely at the end of 2025. This meant earlier comparisons reflected limited availability.
Still, the company appears confident enough in user adoption to test a dedicated platform.
Betting Highly on Generative AI
This launch combines with Meta’s broader strategy of investing heavily in AI-driven infrastructure and consumer products.
This standalone AI video app indicates how the company’s generative capabilities directly to users is taking shape.
The move also signals Meta’s intent to position AI-generated entertainment something more than a feature. By separating Vibes into its own product, the company is going ahead in testing whether AI video can stand alone as a primary content format.
Creativity, Scale and Social Media’s Future
Generative AI tools allow users to create visually polished videos quickly and at scale. This brings down the technical barriers. This also enables the users to create new avenues for experimentation.
Still, AI-generated content is created from the learned patterns of existing data. Critics argue that such material is not original and lacks emotional depth associated with work created by humans.
The ability to generate content at high volume also raises concerns on oversaturation and declining quality.
Limited Rollout for Now
Meta has yet not gone on to announce a global launch timeline. For now, the Vibes app remains in the limited testing phase in Brazil and Mexico.
This experiment will help determine whether users are ready to embrace an endless stream of AI-generated video or can generative content redefine mainstream social media consumption.
