Google Author Name (Profile Page) & Site Favicon On Article Carousel
More visibility for the creator and the sources in the search results. Google’s Carousel has
just welcomed a new add-on that looks to increase transparency in its featured sections.
In this visual-loving age, each new day Google is giving a new upgrade to its ecosystem, just
to be a little better than before.
But before bringing these changes to life, the search engine never skips undergoing extensive
analysis and research to get their implementation right.
However, Google is often supposed to run this analysis to facilitate an improved user
experience for its users.
But now it looks like Google has prioritized giving publishers special recognition.
As per Google’s recent Carousel Update, the search engine has introduced an author profile
icon and a site favicon icon in its Article Carousel.
SEO Consultant at G-Squared Interactive Glenn Gabe broke this news on his social media
handle X, sharing pictures of how the new carousel looks.
The new display feature aims to improve author profiles on the search results because it will
be providing visibility to not just the website but authors too.
In short, the person who has put his insane efforts into the article—who's the mind behind an
article and its research work—has been rewarded with this cool update.
Instead of just a typical site name, Google will now show two favicons in the carousel. Glenn
Gabe says, “One is for the website, and the second is for the author.
This change is particularly beneficial for authors who contribute content across different
websites or domains.
From now on, when users see a carousel in the search results, they will not only see the
website favicon but also the author favicon, creating a visual association between the
author and the readers.
However, after this update, it would be more interesting to see an author who writes for
multiple media brands, as their profile picture (represented by the author’s favicon) will be
displayed alongside the favicons of two or three different publishing sites in the article
carousel.
