Google Introduces Conversational AI Image Editing on Pixel Devices

Google introduces a groundbreaking AI image editing technology to Pixel devices that can edit your photos with your words or voice commands.

At the 2025 “Made by Google” hardware event, Google unveiled several exciting upgrades, including brand-new AI-powered photo editing tools available for Pixel devices.

Conversational Editing Made Easy

As Google explains:

“Thanks to advanced Gemini capabilities, Photos can now help you make custom AI-powered edits that bring your vision to life in just seconds. No need to select tools or adjust sliders. All you have to do is ask Photos for the edits you want to see.”

You can, for instance, request editing such as removing blemishes and restoring old images and adding fun accessories such as sunglasses or a party hat to your pictures. 

“You can even make multiple requests in a single prompt like ‘remove the reflections and fix the washed out colors.’ And if you truly have no idea where to start, you can just start by typing or saying, ‘make it better’ or using one of the provided suggestions.”

These new features give marketers more creative freedom directly from within the Pixel editing application, allowing them to increase the quality of content with minimal effort.

Enhancing Transparency through C2PA Content Credentials

Alongside AI-powered edits, Google has launched C2PA Content Credentials within Google’s native Pixel camera application. This feature includes metadata within photos that explains the process by which images were made or altered, and includes edits done by AI.

This change aims to improve the transparency of images and reduce confusion over the authenticity of photos, an increasing concern in this age, as digital media is a major source of content.

Google has also announced a collaboration with Instagram to improve the recording of Instagram Stories on Pixel devices. The integration will provide smoother and better-quality stories and will aid content creators and marketers who depend heavily on social platforms.

Availability

Google confirmed that the new AI editing capabilities will be available with Pixel 10 models. In addition, C2PA Content Credentials will start rolling out to Android as well as iOS devices “over the coming weeks”, and will allow access across all platforms.
